Yarmouth Peewee A Gateways Silver Medalists
The Yarmouth Peewee ‘A’ Gateways made it to the Gold Medal game at the recent Provincial Championships against the New Glasgow Blizzards. Yarmouth lost in the final game 11-7. Losing pitchers for the gold medal game were Morgan Chetwynd, Brad Jones and Corey Newell. Brad Jones 2 singles and 1rbi and pitched and was named Game MVP. Brett Mercier had a double and 2 rbis, Ian Walker had 2 singles, Dylan Spinney had 1 single and 2 rbis. Adding singles were Andrew Thibault, Riley Crowell and Braydon Moses.
During the provincial championships Yarmouth lost it’s first game to New Glasgow 5-3. They went on to defeat New Waterford 14-3 in 5 innings. The Gateways won their quarter finals on Saturday evening against Wesphal. Yarmouth came back after trailing 10-4 in the bottom of the 7th to win with Andrew Thibault hitting a triple with the bases loaded to tie and then Jaden Robinson made a huge hit to bring in Andrew for the win. They then defeated Enfield 6-1 in the semi finals. The Championship game was started but ended up rained out after 3 innings of muddy field conditions leaving Yarmouth down 8-3. The game was then completed from that point on the following weekend in Kentville. Yarmouth came back 9-7 but could not quite get the win.
Yarmouth is loaded with first year Peewee players and had an outstanding year. A great building season for AA Ball next year.
